March 16 Parade Kicks Off Two Weekends of Cave Creek Rodeo Days Events

Now in its 42nd year, Cave Creek Rodeo Days will take place March 22–24 at Cave Creek Memorial Arena, offering three days of thrilling PRCA rodeo performances featuring top-ranking Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association (PRCA) and Women’s Professional Rodeo Association contestants.

This year’s festivities kick off Saturday, March 16, with the Cave Creek Rodeo Days Parade. Sponsored by Wells Fargo, the parade starts at 9am on the west side of town by Cave Creek Town Hall and travels east to Harold’s Corral ending at approximately 11am. The fun continues that day at The Buffalo Chip Saloon with Mutton Bustin’ at 1pm (sign up is at noon). The Buffalo Chip Saloon is also sponsoring the Kick-Off Dance that night.

This year’s grand marshals for the parade are three PBR cowboys, who are sure to set the tone for an entertaining morning featuring horseback riders, draft hitches, floats, unique automobiles, rodeo royalty, clubs, organizations, bands, trick riders, clowns and other decorative and patriotic entries.

“We’re very excited that The Shriners will be involved this year…their entry is like a parade within a parade,” said Kristin Lewis, parade coordinator and owner of Sage Medical Company.

The parade will have seven announcing stations located at Local Johnny’s, Big Earl’s Greasy Eats, Frontier Town, the Kiwanis Marketplace, Outlaws, The Buffalo Chip and Harold’s Corral. Each entry will be announced as they pass by each station.

Mix, Mingle & Savor Local Flavors

The outdoor, open-air setting of Stagecoach Village in historic Cave Creek will host more than 30 area restaurants, along with quality purveyors of craft beer, wine and spirits, to showcase the best that the town and the state has to offer. An annual celebration of local flavors, The Taste of Cave Creek returns Oct. 17–18.

For 25 years, the Town of Cave Creek has offered this event as an opportunity for residents to mingle with neighbors and for everyone to sip and savor the amazing fare offered from local restaurants and bars.

“Cave Creek is undoubtedly one of Arizona’s most dynamic and diverse culinary hot spots,” says Marshal Adam Stein, event chairman. “That is why we are enormously proud to partner with Sanderson Ford and Sanderson Lincoln to showcase a mix of the best and brightest chefs and restaurateurs. A star-studded collection of sommeliers, wine, beer and spirits experts rounds out the Taste of Cave Creek. Paired with incredible live music, this unforgettable event has become a highlight on Cave Creek’s calendar.”

This year features a new element to the food, as participating chefs and butchers face off in a “Head to Tail” cookoff. Local chefs and butchers take pride in the relationships they share with their ranchers and fishermen and each will choose an animal to feature. Chefs will cook and serve up plates inspired by their selection. The winner will be judged by top local food celebrities.

Also new this year is the Beer Garden, offering more than 20 of today’s most popular brews to choose from, as well as spirits including tequila, bourbon, vodka and more.

Stagecoach Village is located at 7100 East Cave Creek Road. The Taste of Cave Creek runs 5–9pm daily, Oct. 17–18. Admission is $10 at the front gate (free for children 12 and under). Food sampling tickets are $1, with food/drink items ranging from $3–$5. Parking is available on Schoolhouse Road north of the Cave Creek Post Office; a free shuttle will take guests to and from the venue. The free shuttles will start at 4:30pm and end at 9:30pm each night.

CAVE CREEK RODEO DAYS 2018: March 17-25

It is one of the biggest events taking place in the Town each year, and the Cave Creek Rodeo Days celebration rides into town this month. Cave Creek Rodeo Days is celebrating 41 years of preserving western heritage and promoting the sport of professional rodeo this month, with events taking place March 17–25. Cave Creek Rodeo Days is comprised of an all-volunteer committee that is sponsored by Sanderson Ford in Glendale. The Kiwanis Marketplace in Cave Creek is a Platinum Sponsor for the 2018 Cave Creek Rodeo Days.

“We cherish our western lifestyle,” says Cave Creek Mayor Ernie Bunch. “Our entire community is coming together for Cave Creek Rodeo Days. This event celebrates everything we love about our town.”

After the naming of the 2018 Rodeo Queen and Teen March 10, Rodeo festivities officially kick off Saturday, March 17, with the Cave Creek Rodeo Days Parade through the Town of Cave Creek. The parade begins at 9am, and several businesses will be serving breakfast along the way. Immediately after the parade, the Buffalo Chip Saloon & Steakhouse will host mutton bustin’ for the children, and the official kick-off dance beginning at 8pm.

The Cave Creek Rodeo Golf Tournament takes place Monday, March 19, at Tatum Ranch Golf Course, and the live rodeo action will thrill spectators with three performances, March 23–25.

Cervi Championship Rodeo is supplying championship stock for the Cave Creek Rodeo. The Cervi family oversees and participates in every aspect of the rodeo production.

Cave Creek Rodeo was voted first place for the 2017 Justin Boot Best Footing Award in the Turquoise Circuit. The award is given to the rodeo that had the safest, most consistent ground conditions throughout the entire rodeo. It ensures a safe and level playing field for the barrel racing contestants and their horses.
