Desert Ridge to Host Free eSports Showcase March 2

Desert Ridge Marketplace is hosting an eSports competition and bringing favorite childhood games to a massive LED display. They have teamed up with Bravous Youth Sports League, Arizona’s first youth eSports association, to host the ultimate free eSports Showcase Saturday, March 2, from 11am to 1pm at the District Stage. Gamers will be able to play either Mario Kart 8 Deluxe or Super Smash Bros. and participants in the competition will have practice time with professional coaches to learn tips and tricks. The winner will receive notoriety and a prize from Desert Ridge Marketplace tenants.

Pigtails Cocktail Bar is Now Open at Desert Ridge

A speak-easy style craft cocktail concept joined its sister concept, The Whining Pig Beer & Wine Bar, in The District at Desert Ridge Marketplace.

Pigtails Cocktail Bar features plush seating, a living wall covered by real plants, shiplap walls with copper detailing, a “secret” bookshelf exit and a raw oyster bar (opening March 2019). Mixologists will customize signature libations — such as the Arizona Rain, Caliote or Guthrie’s Favor — using barrel aged whiskey, organic vodka, botanically infused gin and a variety of tequilas mixed with fresh fruits to satisfy cocktail enthusiasts.

AMC Desert Ridge 18 Unveils Renovations – Hosts DORY AFTER DARK Double Feature June 16

Kicking the season off is Dory After Dark, a double feature of Finding Nemo followed by widely anticipated Finding Dory at 9pm on June 16.

With comfort and convenience driving changes, renovations at AMC Desert Ridge 18 include the addition of plush, power recliners in theatres; MacGuffins bar – a full bar featuring craft beer, wine and cocktails; an expanded menu of treats for in-theatre dining, including Coca-Cola Freestyle; and a fully remodeled concession area and restrooms. In addition, reserved seating and mobile ticketing are now standard at the theatre.

Malloween At Desert Ridge Offers Family-Friendly Trick-or-Treat

Pint-sized witches, ghosts and pumpkins are invited to head out to Desert Ridge Marketplace for its “Malloween” event. The event offers Valley families a fun and safe alternative to traditional door-to-door trick-or-treating. The event provides a not-so-spooky, little-bit-kooky Halloween experience, especially for younger trick-or-treaters.

Funergy and costumes dancingWith store-to-store trick-or-treating, Halloween music and plenty of prizes, along with a variety of games and activities coordinated by family entertainment company, Funergy, “Malloween” is expected to draw up to 5,000 costumed children to the District. In addition to candy, participating stores, indicated by a balloon column outside their doors, will provide select giveaways.

Make A Splash This Month At Desert Ridge

Summer-SplashDesert Ridge Marketplace continues its “Summer Splash Tuesdays” this month, giving kids (and parents) a free and fun event to enjoy every Tuesday, through July 21, from 11am-12:30pm.

Children can make their summer memorable by meeting their favorite characters ranging from fairy princesses such as Elsa and Cinderella, along with superheroes like Batman and Spider Man.

During the 90-minute event at the AMC Fountain (splash pad), enjoy music, dancing, games, prizes and, of course, playing in the splash pad to keep cool. Upcoming events include:

Citywide Chalk Art Festival Returns April 18

and the Southern Arizona Arts and Cultural Alliance are inviting artists to hit the pavement – with chalk.

On Saturday, April 18, over a dozen artists will participate in the second annual Vestar Chalk Art Festival. From 11am-6pm, the public can watch professional artists create eight-foot murals in a variety of themes throughout each of the shopping centers or grab a piece of chalk and make their own colorful addition.

The Vestar Chalk Art Festival includes Desert Ridge Marketplace (21001 North Tatum Boulevard, Phoenix), Tempe Marketplace (2000 East Rio Salado Parkway, Tempe) and Westgate Entertainment District (6751 North Sunset Boulevard, Glendale). Each location will have unique murals created by local artists and an imaginative KidZone.

Phx Chalk Art 2015 (2)The Chalk Art Festival KidZone is a space where imaginations soar. Children and adults are welcome to create their own original pieces of chalk art and contribute to a large-scale community mural. The KidZone will be managed by an artist instructor specialized in working with children. Chalk and hand wipes will be provided.
