Slider Throwdown To Benefit Arizona Foster Children

SliderThrowdownLogoValley residents will have the opportunity to sample unique and delicious sliders while doing good in the community at the 2015 Slider Throwdown, held at Kierland Commons Sunday, November 15, from 11am-to 2pm. The event will pit local food trucks against one another to battle for the title of “Best Slider.” Well-known food trucks including Jamburritos, Phil the Grill, Aioli Burger, Buzz N Bee, Island Loco, Comfort Cravings and more will be serving up their most creative and scrumptious sliders for attendees to sample. The sliders will be judged by local “slider experts” as well as by the attendees via their People’s Choice votes.
Admission of $25 includes entry into the event and one slider from each participating food truck. Slider lovers of all ages are welcome, and a beer garden with cash bar as well as non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Arizona Friends of Foster Children Foundation (AFFCF). The AFFCF (www.affcf.org) is dedicated to giving children in foster care back their childhood. The organization has awarded more than $5.7 million to more than 26,000 children in foster care within the state.

Kris Jacober, director of the AFFCF says, “We help promote their self-esteem and enrich their lives by funding activities and other needs that give them quality experiences as they live through very difficult circumstances.”
However, there are still more than 18,000 children in foster care in the state that need the community’s help – the Slider Throwdown is just one way that residents can make a difference.
