and the Southern Arizona Arts and Cultural Alliance are inviting artists to hit the pavement – with chalk.

On Saturday, April 18, over a dozen artists will participate in the second annual Vestar Chalk Art Festival. From 11am-6pm, the public can watch professional artists create eight-foot murals in a variety of themes throughout each of the shopping centers or grab a piece of chalk and make their own colorful addition.

The Vestar Chalk Art Festival includes Desert Ridge Marketplace (21001 North Tatum Boulevard, Phoenix), Tempe Marketplace (2000 East Rio Salado Parkway, Tempe) and Westgate Entertainment District (6751 North Sunset Boulevard, Glendale). Each location will have unique murals created by local artists and an imaginative KidZone.

Phx Chalk Art 2015 (2)The Chalk Art Festival KidZone is a space where imaginations soar. Children and adults are welcome to create their own original pieces of chalk art and contribute to a large-scale community mural. The KidZone will be managed by an artist instructor specialized in working with children. Chalk and hand wipes will be provided.

The large scale, professional chalk murals will be on view at all three locations through April 30. The festival is free to attend. For more information, visit www.saaca.org/PHXChalkArt.php.
