Plans For Fashion Square Expansion

Theater, retail included in plans

 FashionSquare

By Katherine Koenig ~ New development is the works for Arizona’s biggest shopping mall. Scottsdale Fashion Square is expected to grow even larger if the City of Scottsdale’s development review board gives the go ahead to California based Macerich Co. The project’s architects, Nelson Partners, have submitted an application to the city requesting the expansion on  the northeast portion of the mall. The request for approval is for the site plan, elevation and landscape for nearly 150,000 square-feet. The plan includes a large movie theater and additional retail, as well as one level below-grade for additional parking. Last spring, the Days Inn and Coco’s Bakery Restaurant near Fashion Square were demolished to make way for progress. If approved, development officials are hopeful for an opening by sometime 2015.
