Foundation in Faith Forum: Child Victims of Sex Trade

On July 30, Ascension Lutheran Church will host a Foundation in Faith Forum. The top for discussion is Child Victims of Sex Trade. This is a not-to-miss opportunity to hear two outstanding experts on the field of anti-trafficking. The forum speakers will be:

Jodi Liggett – former CEO of the Arizona Foundation for Women and current policy advisor to Mayor Greg Stanton.

Barb Strachan –Social Justice Program Manager of Girl Scouts Arizona Cactus-Pine Council Inc. Strachan has B.S. and M. Ed with 12 years of experience building programs to help break intergenerational cycles of incarceration, substance abuse, poverty, violence and sexual exploitation.

Liggett will address the issue of child sex trafficking from a policy perspective: the current state of the law in Arizona and how we protect trafficked individuals, especially minors, and hold abusers and traffickers criminally accountable. She will also cover the problem of “demand” and how our culture creates a market for the sexual exploitation of children and what everyday citizens can do to stop it.

Strachan will present a workshop that will provide an interactive experience that attendees will not forget. She will discuss the myths and realities of child sex trafficking, the law and ways to get involved in stopping this horrific crime.
