Celebrate The Fourth At The Fountain

FOUNTAIN HILLS – Celebrate this Independence Day with family fun in Fountain Hills. Entertainment will feature the Arizona Skyhawks Parachute Team, completing a spectacular nighttime parachute drop into Fountain Park at 8:30pm, and music by Aging Hipsters and AZ Blues Project. Kids will enjoy a bounce house, fun slide and petting zoo, and everyone will have fun with a hot dog eating contest (sponsored by Phil’s Filling Station), food and merchandise vendors, as well as beer and wine provided by Fountain Hills’ own local VFW Post 7507.

All the fun takes place July 4 at Fountain Park (corner of Saguaro and Palisades/Panorama) from 5-10pm. Admission is $5; children 12 and under are free.

What a wonderful and joyous family event the “Fourth at the Fountain” festivities turned out to be. All of Fountain Hills can be proud of the event. I think everyone can agree that The Ageing Hipsters and The Arizona Blues Project bands were fantastic. There can be no doubt that the VFW Beer Garden was again a good attraction and a place to relax and enjoy the scene. The youngsters enjoyed the petting zoo, the fun slide and the bounce house. The Arizona Skyhawks Parachute Team was fantastic with their highly entertaining and precision night-skydiving demonstration. I doubt that anyone present has seen anything better. It was better than fireworks from Ft McDowell, as visible from Fountain Park the night before.

As a Fountain Hills resident, I want to thank Tait Elkie and Stephanie Kniffen for forming Elkie Kniffen Productions and taking the financial and reputation risk in producing the “Fourth at the Fountain” so that we could celebrate our nation’s Independence Day in our own hometown of Fountain Hills. Many thanks, and I hope you build upon this experience for even greater events in the future.
