By Curtis Riggs – The old Cave Creek Chamber of Commerce has a new name and a new mission. The former Chamber is now the Cave Creek Merchants and Events Association. CCMEA is the driving force behind such Cave Creek celebrations as Wild West Days and the Fiesta Days Parade. The group also helps out with next month’s Taste of Cave Creek, the Cave Creek Bicycle Festival, Cave Creek Wicked and many other community celebrations.
Cave Creek Merchants and Events Association will focus its energy in two directions, says CCMEA President Johnny Ringo. The Association will be serving as the event organizer for the Town and as the marketing arm for the Cave Creek business core, Ringo adds.
The Town of Cave Creek gave $10,000 this year to help with the holding of events and other issues, such as security and street closures. CCMEA Treasurer Jean Glass explains that CCMEA took over responsibility for the Fiesta Days Parade from the Desert Foothills Community Association a couple of years ago. CCMEA board member Evelyn Johnson, who is the executive director of the Cave Creek Museum, says the CCMEA helps raise the awareness of local non-profits such as the Museum. She adds that the help from the CCMEA is critical to the success of many non-profit fundraisers. |CST
