Studies show half of visits to an emergency room are for non-emergencies, but to those patients, a minor illness or injury still requires urgent care, according to Mufid Khoury, MD, (pictured) medical director at Scottsdale Healthcare Urgent Care Plus.
The idea behind Urgent Care Plus is to offer convenient and cost-effective medical care for minor illness or injury, all with the backing and expertise of Scottsdale Healthcare. The newly-opened facility, on the northeast corner of Tatum Boulevard and Thunderbird Road, can be an ideal option for a minor injury or common illness like upper respiratory infection, sinusitis, bronchitis, minor lacerations, ear ache, sore throat or sprained ankle. With extended hours including weekends and holidays, Urgent Care Plus can be especially helpful for a family’s minor medical emergencies.
The center, which also handles workers’ compensation injuries, is supported with the same resources as Scottsdale Healthcare’s three hospitals and accepts most major insurance plans, according to Diane Legum, director of Ambulatory Services.
“Scottsdale Healthcare Urgent Care Plus offers cost-effective, high quality care from a trusted name in the community,” says Legum. “Basic medical tests and radiology services available on-site, and care is provided by board-certified physicians, licensed practical nurses and certified radiology technologists.”
Located at 13843 North Tatum Boulevard, Scottsdale Healthcare Urgent Care Plus is open Monday-Friday, 8am-8pm, and weekends and holidays, 8am-4pm. The center can be reached at.
